Thanks to Park Avenue UMC

My thanks go to Park Avenue UMC, Valdosta, GA for being such a terrific host this past weekend.  I had the pleasure of being with their choir, as well as choir members from six other area UMC churches for a choir retreat on Saturday.  We rehearsed (genuine, focused, “hammer the notes out,” hard rehearsal) four of my anthems and one by my buddy, Mark Hayes.  We then offered all five anthems as part of an informal Saturday afternoon worship service that was open to the public.

I stayed over on Sunday and participated in PAUMC’s Sunday services.  it was a pleasure to get to know their choir and their leadership.  The choir is ably led by Reese Nelson (who, incidentally, is the father of of Paul Nelson – the choral book editor at Word Music!).  The (terrific) accompanist and event organizer was Robbie Milam, who did a great job of pulling the entire event together.
