Passing It a Little Further Along

I just heard from Kurt Kaiser, after he read my blog post on “Pass It On.”  In typical fashion, Kurt is totally humble, as he writes:

“Wow, I’m not sure I deserved all of that!  …I greatly appreciate the comments.  One of the things that has stayed with me throughout my life has been the importance of spending time with up and coming composers.  I learn from them as well.”

 And of course, Kurt is right.  I am learning from younger composers and creators, too.  Sometimes they break rules I would never think to break, and my response is sometimes, “Cool.  I would’ve never thought to do that.”

We should never stop learning.  Ever.
