New Easter work on the way

I’ve just delivered a new Easter cantata to Word Music – titled “I’ve Seen Jesus (Encounters with the Risen Christ).”  This project had some really difficult birth pains.  Originally, I was asked to write this with Claire Cloninger – but Claire was sick for six weeks with terrible migraines, and she bowed out.  (Interestingly, her migraines went away as soon as she left the project – which says that I was probably the cause of her headaches!)

Deborah Craig-Claar stepped in to write with me, and she did her typical terrific work.  “I’ve Seen Jesus” is unique as an Easter work in that it begins with the resurrection and tells the stories of the people who encountered the risen Christ in the 40 days following His resurrection.  The songs are contemporary, and the arrangements are a bit edgy – at least in the world of choral music.  I hope that churches which are looking for a fresh sound for their choirs will like this project.  It has some great music in it, and conveys a poweful message that is very pertinent to today.

Keep an eye out in the coming Word Easter release for “I’ve Seen Jesus.”
