In Life - Debriefed

Recently I had the privilege (and great fun) of composing and producing a package of music cues for 1st Baptist Church, Dallas, for its upcoming new TV broadcast, “Pathway to Victory.”  (See photos from the session in my Photo Gallery.)  John Grable (Minister of Commincations for FBC) comes from an advertising and TV production background – so he was a wonderful to work with.  He knew what he wanted (a big movie-score sound) and allowed me to go for it.  The end result was pretty spectacular, if I do say so myself.

The entire recording of a dozen+ music cues was done in a single 2-hour session with a 40-piece orchestra (the always terrific Nashville String Machine –  booked by Carl Gorodetzky).  My favorite engineer in the world, Doug Sarrett, recorded all the fun at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville.  Ocean Way is an old church sanctuary, converted to be a recording studio.  (You can see the old stained glass windows in some of the photos.)  it has a great sound, an amazing selections of mics, a world-class console, and a very helpful staff.  (I’m sounding like a commercial for Ocean Way – sorry.)

Doug mixed the music a few days later at his own studio – Uno Mas Studio.  The 1st show airs end of June/beginning of July.
