Swing Low

My very first choral print arrangement was of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.” It was aimed at show choirs and was absurdly difficult. (Hey, it was 1977 and I was just a dumb kid.)

Now here I am, almost 50 years later, releasing a new arrangement of the famous Spiritual, quite different from that first version – but – just as difficult.

What can I say, other than – I don’t always make wise choices???

That said… For any good vocal jazz ensemble, this “almost a cappella” arrangement would be a fun, rewarding challenge to tackle. It’s written for SSAATTBB voices, with a couple of brief solos, accompanied by only an upright jazz bass. (Thus: “almost a cappella”)
