I Choose Jesus

This song has been around the block more than a few times. It’s been in and out of print with major publishers. (It’s currently “out.”) It’s been recorded by choirs and solo artists. It has history, going all the way back to a 1988 Easter presentation in Richardson, Texas. It anchored my first dramatic musical, THE CHOICE (Word Music). More importantly (to me, at least), it reflects my personal statement of faith better than all the other songs I’ve written over the years. For that reason alone, I want it to be available – here in the Legacy Series.

This arrangement will sound familiar to those who’ve heard earlier versions. But – it differs from its predecessors in a two ways:

• The recorded accompaniment is symphonic. There is no “inspo” rhythm section used in the underpinnings of the orchestration. The result is a timeless and somewhat theatrical sound.
• The range has been contained a bit, thanks to a more modest final modulation. This will come as good news to the baritones (and even the possible sopranos) that might want to take on the challenge. (Oh, what a difference that half-step can make!)

So, here is “I Choose Jesus” once again, with me hoping it will last longer than I do.
