Changes Coming…

(A Page Header from the past.)

The Big Change

In the coming weeks, this site will re-boot with a fresh look and new content. The Blog will still be here, along with the Archives and the several purchasable products. The Big Change will be the addition of an on-line store, which became necessary in order to launch my own choral music “boutique.”  New, downloadable choral music (along with its standard ancillary products, like Performance Trax and Orchestrations) soon will be available here at the site.

Initially, I will be offering music in three unique series: The Sanctuary Series (aimed at traditional church choirs), the Gospel Series (aimed at contemporary/blended church choirs), and the Concert Series (aimed at the educational choral world).

I’ve mentioned this development in a previous blog post, and we are nearing the switch-over point. Hopefully, the site won’t be down but for a day or so as we make the change in the next few weeks.

The Big Question – Why?

So… “Why?,” you may ask. “Why, in a time of declining choral music sales are you choosing to risk precious time and capital to create new choral music?”

The quick answer is that I am probably out of my mind. But without extensive testing, we can’t be certain about that.

I could also say the reason for this new direction is that the choral music business has changed to the point that I either create my own product, or get out altogether. Only an hour or so ago, I learned that one of my favorite choral music distributors will be closing down. If that’s not a sign of the times, I don’t know what is.

But here is the answer lying closer to the heart of the matter: I am offering my own line of choral music because this is what God gifted me to do. As a creator, hopelessly in love with music, I am compelled to write. As a Believer, forever indebted to God’s grace, I write mostly about Jesus.  And even after 40+ years of doing this, I don’t think I’m quite done yet. In truth, I think I’ve only just begun to get the hang of it.

Plus, this grumpy curmudgeon still harbors a powerful streak of hope – hope that quality music will remain important to the Church and the Kingdom for the foreseeable future.

So, keep your eyes peeled for the coming changes.  I’ll try to keep you posted here and at Facebook. And for all you church musicians out there – I don’t have a marketing budget. So — please tell your friends about this.
